wild life

the author, in her natural habitat:
i noticed today that grocery store shelves are the perfect height for setting up my camera timer. this may become my new thang, dawg.
this is another skirt that i thrifted but i'm not 100% sure of the length. i love the color, the waistband and the buttons, but when wearing a mid calf skirt, i really prefer a heel.
sweater- target
t shirt- old navy
skirt- thrifted
sandals- meier and frank

and my two favorite oscar looks,
 cate blanchett:
different, daring, grecian, lovely, fresh. i loved it.

and hailee steinfeld:
classic, age appropriate, elegant

PLUS, she confirmed that she is in the running to play katniss everdeen in the hunger games movie. she has my vote. true grit is the best movie i have seen in forever(however, i've only stayed awake during about 4 movies in the last year. i am ridiculous) so i would love to see her in the hunger games. but, i would also like to see ben barnes in the role of gale. and he's 29. she's 14. weird and gross and wrong.

you are wearing my school colors ;)

i'm kind of on the fence about cate's dress. i don't really like the circular shape going on around her torso. the detail is gorgeous though.

ps: i'd love to see someone come down the aisle in which your photoshoot is taking place, haha

Those dresses were also two of my favorites!! Out of all of Anne Hathaways gowns, which one did you like best? I loved the red. and I can't WAIT until The Hunger Games movies come out:)

I totally agree about Cate's dress, even though a lot of people didn't like it. I thought it was lovely, and different, and true to her personal style (I also enjoyed Helena Bonham-Carter's choice of dress, for similar true-to-self reasons). I didn't know they were making a movie out of "The Hunger Games." Something to look forward to!

Ok, here are my thoughts as I was reading:

1) Reagan is awesome. That is a great picture of him.
2) You're right about that skirt and heels. I think you need to decide how you want to wear it most of the time. If you want to leave the length as is, then make sure to always wear a heel. If you want it to be a more casual skirt, then I think it would be worth your time to shorten it just a tad.
3) I loved that Cate Blanchett dress as well. I'm learning (from our friends TLo) to look at red carpet dresses differently than I usually do (which is to say, "I would wear that") and hers was stunning.
4) I like hailee, but I LOVE Ben Barnes. So yes, that would be awkward and weird. He'd be a great Gale. Any preferences for Peeta?

that girl is exactly what i pictured as katniss when reading hunger games (granted i'm still only on page 70). she's got that "i have no idea what continent/ethnicity you are from" look.

I adore Ben Barnes :) I haven't seen True Grit yet so I can't weigh in on that... I agree either the outfit needs heels or you could hem it a few inches. I like the color and the A-line =)

I'm also seriously jealous you're wearing sandals... 2 feet of snow outside for me =(

aaahhh! i just left a long comment and then there was a server error. boo.

more oscar commentating please! and i think you the skirt would look even cuter if it were shortened to just below that last button. but that's just my 2 cents. i love the color of it and it looks really good with the striped top.

hehe, your kids are adorable. I love those Oscar dresses you posted, too. Agreed that Hailee looks great; it's tough at that age to wear something classy that doesn't make you look too old, too trampy, or too young. The dress she's wearing is perfect!

I love it. That picture is great. I especially love your son in the forefront. Too cute.
I agree about the length of the skirt. I would probably shorten it.
As for movies, I'm right with you. I always fall asleep. It takes me days to get through one movie. In fact, we've had Inception from Netflix for almost a month now. I really need to get on it.

I looove the grocery store pic! Your kids are cracking me up! I wanted that target xhiraration sweater. It looks so great the way you styled it!

I agree - a shorter length would be perfect! Great color on you!

And at least you were in the laundry isle of the store instead of the feminine hygiene part! Or family planning. hahaha - I'm sooooo mature.

I'm lovin' the grocery store pics. And I'm jealous that your kids were being so good at the store.
