you can plan a pretty picnic

but you can't predict the weather(ms jackson!)
i love this polka dot dress, but i think i've only worn it a handful of times in the almost 5 years i've owned it. there's a lot going on with the polka dots and the tiers of ruffles and it can translate as very young. even though i am young. and painfully hip. 2 painful hips in fact. it's called sciatica nerve pain. thank you babies.

and it was misty raining. so my hair was a big, heavy pile of blah. if the quality of my picture was better you could tell that my shirt is blue pinstripe, not just blahwhite-ish. and my necklace reminds me of the dog collar of a small yappy dog. but i like it. mucho.

my fave picture location to date:

and on a different day, un-rainy day:
just your local, run of the mill Georgian-style bed and breakfast that i run past on my monday workout.

and equally stunning is when i originally wore this polka dot dress(thomas is so handsome in this picture). i would never wear that sash or bolero together again, way too high school formal for my tastes.
i bought this dress for thomas' graduation from law school in 2006. i think it cost me something like $13.99. i was so excited to get something new. law school and a new baby at the same time isn't for the faint of heart. and you can see the watch he gave me for our first valentine's together, way back in 2002. plus, you can see on my right eyebrow that this whole "wax off half your eyebrow" problem isn't a recent dilemma for me. i'll never learn.
memories! like the corner of my mind. misty water-colored memories! of the way we were.

I really like your shoes :-) They make me want spring even more so that I can whip out mine again. Oh, and the 2006 outfit - I like it! Some things just seem to pair up with certain ideas naturally. In 2008, I wore a black dress with white dots and a berry colored sash just like this one to a wedding ;-) I like your outfit better than mine then though - my dress was 19,99€ or something, but looked cheap - while yours doesn't ;-)

I'm so overwhelmed by all the great references in this post that I'm having a hard time concentrating on the outfit.

I like the 2006 version. And the 2011. Gosh, has it really been that long since Big T graduated?

And thanks for the Outkast reference. I feel like it was just for me. I'm am fo' reeeeeal!

hahahhaaa..."2 painful hips, in fact." oh heidi, you kill me. i for one think the polka dots and the tiers are fandidlytastic. and i actually like it with the red sash. and the georgia-manor in the background. can you carry that around in your back pocket as well? awesome.

I think this dress is great, but I was just accused by an anonymous commenter that I dress too young, so what do I know? :)
As for the painful hips, i had that too until I started doing Pilates. Now after almost 2 years the pain is pretty much gone.

Even if you have only worn it a handful of times, it has been worth that pricetag! I really like it as a skirt, like you styled it today!

Good idea with the button up! And I've watched Big like forty times in the past month because it's instant on Netflix. He sings that song at the end of your post and I sang along as I read it. You're so funny.

I love the way you paired the shirt over the dress. And I can't believe it's 5 years old. It still looks great too!
